October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Dr. Surya Challa and the rest of the Chesapeake Vein Center and MedSpa team are working to raise awareness and inform the community. During the month of October, Dr. Challa will educate patients on early detection and prevention strategies, as well as describe treatment options when dealing with breast cancer.
Dr. Surya Challa knows that early detection and screening is vital to protecting patients in Chesapeake, Virginia. Chesapeake Vein Center and MedSpa offers genetic testing to help patients understand their risk factors as soon as possible, so that at-risk patients can continuously check themselves and begin treatments if necessary. Awareness is a patient’s best friend when fighting breast cancer, and Chesapeake Vein Center and MedSpa encourages everyone to undergo testing this October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast Cancer Awareness doesn’t stop with early detection alone! The Chesapeake Vein Center and MedSpa team also wants to spread awareness about surgical options for those already fighting breast cancer. Dr. Challa performs a variety of procedures, including lumpectomy, mastectomy, and lymph node biopsy in order to safely remove cancerous tissue from the patient while preserving as much of the breast as possible.
Each of the above treatments removes varying levels of damaged tissue within the affected breasts to prevent cancer from spreading and keep the patient healthy. Dr. Challa works actively with the Tumor Board at the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and has performed over 350 breast cancer surgeries to date, making him a leader in prevention, education, and treatment options for women and men dealing with breast cancer.
